About this guide
How to read this directory
Purpose, sourcing, review dates, and corrections are collected here for readers who want more context.
How information is verified
Different sources establish different facts. Candidate cards identify the source used for each displayed claim.
- Party registration
- When available, Nebraska VoterCheck confirms a candidate’s voter-registration affiliation.
- Primary participation
- A named partisan primary in the Gage County Electionware report confirms participation in that party’s primary contest. It does not confirm voter registration.
- Current filings
- The county filing list identifies regular filings, petition candidacies, and declared write-ins; a write-in declaration does not mean the name is printed on the ballot. State and federal races use the final statewide general-election candidate list.
- Election results
- Gage County vote totals come from its Electionware report, which is labeled UNOFFICIAL RESULTS and covers Gage County reporting only. The official state canvass establishes statewide and multi-county primary nominees.
- Election stage
- Current listings and primary history are shown separately so candidates who did not advance are not mistaken for current candidates.
- Pending verification
- When an affiliation source has not been confirmed, the directory says “Verification Pending” or “Not Yet Confirmed.” No affiliation is inferred.
Important context
What “nonpartisan” means here
A nonpartisan race is one in which party labels do not appear beside candidate names on the ballot. A candidate may still have a publicly documented political affiliation.
Affiliation is one piece of information, not a complete description of a candidate. It does not predict every decision, and local questions may not divide along conventional party lines.
The county and state drawers include supplemental races that may use different ballot rules. Their inclusion does not mean every race in this directory is officially nonpartisan.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about this reference
Why are these races called nonpartisan?
Party labels do not appear beside candidate names on the ballot. Rules vary by office and jurisdiction.
Does a listed affiliation mean the candidate is officially running as a party nominee?
Not necessarily. The directory includes races with different ballot rules. A publicly documented political affiliation should not be treated as proof of nomination status; consult official election materials for the specific race.
How was this information verified?
See How information is verified for the source types and the facts each establishes.
Why are some candidates listed under primary history?
They participated in the primary but did not advance. They remain visible as election history, separate from current listings.
What happens if an affiliation changes?
The entry should be updated when a reliable public source documents the change. Each card shows when its source was reviewed.
Does this site endorse candidates?
No. Appearance in the directory is not an endorsement, recommendation, ranking, or evaluation.
Why might a voter consider this information relevant?
Some voters consider political affiliation alongside a candidate’s experience, qualifications, statements, and priorities when evaluating people who may make decisions about public budgets, services, or tax levies.
How can an error be corrected?
